Do I need a pregnancy mantra?
I love taking yoga classes, but any time the
instructor incites a group chant, I can’t help but
to feel a bit awkward. There’s something about
chanting out loud in a group setting that makes
me feel like some sort of poser, so if the idea of
creating a mantra sounds a little too out there
for you, I get it.
A mantra is an easy-to-remember positive
affirmation that encourages you to empower
yourself, especially in times you’re not feeling
like Super Woman.
Think of a mantra as your own personal
cheerleader, so before you pooh-pooh the idea,
keep in mind that the act of reciting this special
phrase to yourself can actually help reduce
stress. Plus you’ll never have to share the mantra
with anyone else, nor do you ever have to say it
out loud. It can be like your own personal theme
song. Create an encouraging phrase like, “I am
strong and ready to take care of my baby” and
repeat it in your head over and over to help
when stress or anxiety arise. It doesn’t hurt to
try, right?
